Curated Catastrophe

Rooms

Kitchen

The room that decides how the whole house feels. A kitchen left overnight sets the tone for the next morning, which is why almost every workable routine starts here rather than anywhere more satisfying.

What usually goes wrong here

  1. Cleaning around things instead of moving them

The hob and the sink look done while the crumbs stay under the kettle. Move four things, wipe, put them back.

  2. Storing by object rather than by job

Baking things in three places means baking never quite starts. Group by what you are doing, not by what the thing is.

  3. Treating the reset as cleaning

It is not cleaning, it is closing the room. Ten minutes, same three jobs, every night, regardless of how the day went.
